Mission Statement
The primary purpose of Blue Ribbon CHEROKEE is to help men in Cherokee County stay ahead of prostate cancer through clear and straightforward basic education. We aim to increase awareness and foster the recognition that screening enables early detection, which can lead to a survival rate of nearly 100%. Early detection saves lives.
As a minimalist organization by design, we operate with no employees and are strictly volunteer-led. Given our limited resources, we are vigilant in avoiding mission creep to ensure our efforts always match our capabilities. Our focus remains solely on Cherokee County. We purposefully defer research and broader clinical support to our partners.
Core Operating Principles
The "No Ask" Policy: Our experience has shown that emphasizing fundraising often creates barriers at events, hindering the development of trusting relationships. Operationally, by maintaining a strict "No Ask" mandate, we ensure our focus remains entirely on education rather than solicitation.
Minimalist & Virtual Presence: As a volunteer-led 501(c)(3), the organization avoids the heavy administrative burden typical of traditional nonprofits. This virtual approach allows us to remain agile and focused on community impact while maintaining a highly efficient operational footprint.
